| How do you feel about Welfare Programs? |
If you approve of welfare or not, we have to admit that entitlement programs have become a necessity in today’s society. A percentage of Wisconsinites have become dependent on these programs and have simply lost the ability or in many cases lost the desire to become self sufficient again. I cannot advocate the elimination of these programs because it would affect so many citizens negatively. I do advocate stricter restrictions, requirements and supervision. No recipient receiving State benefits legitimately should have a problem with these enhanced measures.
While entitlement programs are expensive, it is the fraud and abuse that accounts for most the cost. Removing those who abuse and defraud the system will only ensure funding for those who actually use the program as a hand up instead of a hand out. We owe tax paying citizens a stronger effort to rein in these unnecessary costs.
